The Australian International School is a member of the Athletics Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS). Our school receives invitations to attend carnivals and tournaments from schools in this association. AIS also competes against a variety of local schools and clubs within Singapore. Opportunities also occur for teams and individuals to travel overseas to compete in sporting competitions.
Sporting matters at AIS are under the overall direction of the Head of Sport. There is also a Teacher in Charge of each sporting activity. In addition, the Physical Education and Health Faculty provide vital support.
The School encourages students in Years 3-12 to play sport, believing it wise to maintain a balance between academic studies, cultural pursuits, the arts and physical activity.
Where possible, sports will be played at AIS on a semester basis, thus encouraging students to partake in a variety of sports over the course of an academic year.
Our sport program at AIS consists of representative sports and participation sports.
Representative sports are those that students have been selected for and train on a regular basis so as to compete regularly with external institutions.
Participation sports are generally a once a week commitment with no additional associated events.
