The Australian International School invites applications from students of all nationalities. The School population includes students from over 40 nationalities. English as an Additional Language (EAL) programs are offered to those students whose first language is not English and testing prior to enrolment is necessary for this program. Admissions PolicyEnrolments are considered only when the application form and payment of the application fee are received. Upon the approval by the Head of School, the student will either be allocated a place for the year requested or placed on the Waiting List. Students are allocated places in order of application; however, the School reserves the right to allocate places at its discretion in special circumstances. Enrolment is considered as vacancies become available. Students applying for the places in Primary or Secondary School may be required to sit a numeracy and literacy test. These tests can be organised at AIS or at the student's current school should they not currently reside in Singapore. Preschool EnrolmentsStudents entering Preschool must be three years old and toilet trained. Students may commence at any time of the year (subject to places being available). The Older Preschool program is for four year old children. Students must have turned 4 by 30 April to be eligible for the Older Preschool program. Programs for younger Preschoolers are offered for three and four days a week. Older Preschoolers can attend three, four or five days a week. When completing the application form, ensure it is completed indicating the preference for the number of days.

After Prep, students progress to Year 1 and then Year 2.
Entry to the Junior School is approved by the Head of Junior School. Students must have completed the equivalent schooling, provided satisfactory school reports and provided any additional information, including educational psychologist reports, allied health reports such as speech therapy, occupational therapy reports, etc. if relevant. The Head of Junior School may also request work samples should a year level be unclear at enrolment.

Primary School EnrolmentsPrimary School is from Year 3 to Year 5. Students may enter at any time throughout the year (subject to availability of places). Two years of previous school reports must be supplied with the application and these reports are assessed by the Head of Primary School. Applicants should also submit a copy of their latest NAPLAN results if they are applying from Australia. These tests can be performed under the supervision of a teacher at a current school.
If you would like to contact a Registrar regarding a Primary School enrolment, please contact Mr Rene Kragelund on +65 6319 3779 or by email rene_kragelund@ais.com.sg Secondary School EnrolmentsThe Secondary School at AIS is from Year 6 to Year 12. Students may enter Years 6 to 10 at any time during the year (subject to availability of places). Please note that some camps take place in the first two weeks of Term 2 and should a student be commencing at this time, there may be a requirement to attend camp. Secondary School enrolments are assessed by the Head of Secondary School and typically a student will be required to undertake an ACER test as a part of the enrolment process, should they not provide a copy of their NAPLAN results (if coming from Australia). Year 10 literacy and numeracy tests may also be requested. These tests may be completed at the student’s current school.
Entry to Years 11 and 12, for either the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC) is subject to assessment of prior learning. Students joining from education systems other than Australia need to have their study program approved by the Head of Secondary School to ensure a smooth transition into the DP or HSC courses.
If you would like to contact a Registrar regarding a Secondary School enrolment, please contact Mr Rene Kragelund on +65 6319 3779 or by email rene_kragelund@ais.com.sg Students with Learning NeedsAdmission to the Learning Support Program is contingent upon a match between the student’s needs and the level of services available. AIS is unable to offer a full continuum of special education programs and for that reason, applicants will be assessed on a case-by- case basis to determine if learning support is required. Positions for students requiring learning support are limited. Capacity to fully access the mainstream curriculum will be a prime consideration. There are some students for whom AIS is not able to provide a support program. Support is not available for students with intellectual disabilities, physical handicaps or pronounced social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Students with learning differences must be able to function within a regular classroom given the available support services. Student Passes Students requiring a Student Pass must contact the applicable Enrolments Registrar. AIS will sponsor students applying for a student pass to study at the School if the enrolment is accepted and provided all enrolment conditions are met. |
