AISS is pleased to announce the opening of its new state of the art Middle and Senior School Technology Centre, located on the ground floor of the main school building. The Technology Centre, which was completed over the holidays, will allow Middle and Senior students to fully extend their studies in Technology in this dedicated area.
Our Food Technology room is perhaps the most stunning transformation in our Technology Centre. It contains six full kitchen bays fully equipped with all the utensils and cooking instruments needed for the students to carry out their culinary creations. Each bay has a full size convection oven, a two hob induction cook top and an extraction hood extracted to the outside. We also have a pantry which contains all our perishable stores, a fridge/ freezer and new washer/dryer.
Our new Systems and Electronics room has specialised benches and hard materials area where students can build and construct electronic projects. There is also a full complement of tools and equipment for the students to use. This room is well equipped for students to solder and build their projects.
The Textiles room has been designed to provide the students with space to sew, cut out and create exciting textile projects. It has two large work areas in the centre of the room with direct power under the tables and also 17 dedicated sewing machine bays. The room also houses an overlocker and storage areas for fabric and other materials.
Our Mixed Materials room has been set up to facilitate the use of multiple Technologies from Story Book construction, Lego Robotics, Magazine/Advertising Design through to Computer Aided Design using Pro Engineering.
Each Technology class also has access to a class set of laptops and digital cameras for the students to complete and document their design process for the MYP.
Both our Technology Team and all Technology students are very excited to have such a modern facility to assist in the delivery of the Technology Curriculum. We look forward seeing many amazing and impressive creations and projects emerging from this new centre.
