Term One saw the running of both the Primary and Middle/Senior athletics carnivals at Serangoon stadium. Derwent House took out honours in the Middle/Senior carnival by 900 points to Fitzroy House and in Primary Derwent House was 400 points ahead of its closest rival, Murray House.

Over 850 Middle and Senior School students and over 550 students in Primary School took to the track and field in a spirit of team work, competition, challenge and fun to compete for their house. Under a particularly hot sun students ran, jumped, threw and cheered with great enthusiasm to amass points for their house and their own individual age championship point score. The standard of competition was most impressive illustrated by the fact that an astounding 22 new carnival records were set this year in the Middle/Senior carnival and 4 records in the Primary carnival. Outstanding performances were by Ollie Marsden (U11 girl's) (Derwent House) who set 4 records in the 100m, 200m, 400m and shot put and Serena Dalton (U12 girl's) (Derwent House) who set 3 records in the 400m, 1500m and Long Jump.

However, the most notable aspect of the day was certainly the enthusiastic and constant participation of students from all year groups. The Middle and Senior School House Captains led by example and did a tremendous job in organising and directing their Houses.

By conclusion of the final event Derwent House had managed to hold off their competitors to claim the title of 2010 Athletics House Champions at both even. The highly sought after and always well contested Spirit Cup was this year awarded to Lachlan House in the Middle/Senior carnival.
