How do I find out what the school’s policies are?
On this website go to the Home page. Click on the drop down window titled The School, then select Policies. Make your choice from the options on the right hand window.
I need a…….where do I find various recommended services in Singapore?
There is so much good information among families at AISS who have used a
product or service and found it to be one that they would recommend to friends. Therefore, to save some time, AISSPA has compiled a Service Directory listing product and service providers often talked about or recommended by families at the School. Click on the link to find out more.
Please note AISSPA takes no responsibility and makes no promises in relation to the products or services provided by any of the businesses listed within the Directory.
I would like to be more involved in the school, who do I talk to about the options?
There are a number of ways in which you can be involved, from joining in reading groups for primary students, library assistance, helping out at sports activities, functions or organizing them, and more. Talk to either your Class Parent Representative, or contact AISSPA on aisspa@ais.com.sg. One of the Committee members will contact you to find out your areas of interest and suggest some options.
Are AISSPA meetings open to all parents or are they Committee-only meetings?
The AISSPA Committee meets monthly or more frequently as required. These meetings are for Committee members only. AISSPA General Meetings are held quarterly (i.e. one per term) and are open to all parents.
I have a suggestion/idea/issue which I’d like raised at an AISSPA General Meeting. What do I do?
AISSPA General Meetings are open to all parents and one is held each semester. By clicking on this link you can complete the AISSPA Ideas and Issues Form (PDF format here) (Word format here)which makes it easy to clearly state your idea or issue, put forward any solutions you may have already thought of, and find out what next steps you’d prefer as a result of raising it. Then send it to AISSPA at aisspa@ais.com.sg. On the form you can choose from the following options, i.e. whether you:
a) Just want the matter discussed and voted on at the next AISSPA Committee,
b) Would like it raised on your behalf at the next General Meeting
c) Would like to present it yourself at the next General Meeting
d) Would like the help of the AISSPA Issues Assistance Coordinators
I have a concern about a situation at school involving my child. Who should I talk to?
If the matter is specifically regarding your child and a situation involving them, your first approach should be to your child’s teacher. Depending on the outcome of that first meeting, a further discussion may be required which may include the Year Coordinator and/or the Department Head (e.g. Head of Primary or Head of Secondary). If the matter is still unable to be resolved, then further discussion will involve the School Principal. At each of these meetings possible strategies and outcomes will be discussed to resolve the matter. If you have pursued this course of action and still feel that the matter has not been resolved, then please contact the AISSPA Issues Assistance Coordinators on aisspa@ais.com.sg
