We have had an amazing Term 2 in the Music Department. It began with ANZAC Day in Week 2 where an AIS choir of 50 students from Year 6, 7 and 8 and the Elementary Chamber Choir combined to represent the School at the Official ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Kranji War Memorial Cemetery.
Also in Week 2, students from the Secondary Chamber Ensemble along with Rino Darusman and Ishanaz Bahar performed at the 50th anniversary ANZA Ball.
In Week 5, the Music staff and selected classes from across the Elementary and Secondary Schools worked with renowned Music Educator and Conductor Richard Gill OAM. This was an inspirational week for both the staff and members of the wider community who heard Richard speak at a parent event through the week.
Following that, the Music Department held the best Music Ensemble Evening that we have ever had in Week 8 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Concert Hall. We completed our Music duties with involvement in the spectacular ICE Festival today, the last day of term. Our school is certainly lucky to have such a professional, skilled, organised and passionate group of Music educators. The Music staff have well and truly earned a break for a few weeks!
Please encourage your child to practice during the holidays. Music is a lifelong pursuit and like any elite activity needs regular training of technique and repertoire. Please have a much needed and restful holiday and I look forward to another term of great music making starting in Term 3 in July.
