Early childhood is a period of rapid mental growth and development and children seek out the stimuli they need to nourish their developing mental abilities. Young children need a sound base of experiences that will be essential for later learning, a strong sense of self-esteem and excitement and curiosity for learning. It is during this time that children develop higher order thinking skills such as problem solving. Our programmes are planned and developed to create such experiences for your child.
The AISS Preschool recognises that each child is an individual being with unique interests abilities and needs that distinguish them from others. We understand that children are intrinsically curious and motivated and we use engaging and challenging age-appropriate materials to encourage that curiosity and motivation.
Our programmes are based on sound early childhood principles: integrating concepts of mastery and independence with research-based ideas on how children learn and develop. Our classrooms are new, purpose built and stimulating places, where materials are engaging and accessible.
Our programmes are child-centred where children spend their time between free time: where they have various materials available so that they can spend as long as necessary (or no time at all) on different experiences and more structured time: where they are encouraged to embrace particular experiences. Children are encouraged to explore, manipulate, create, and construct things in their environment. The cognitive and social development is best encouraged through collaboration with others, discussion, discovery of the 'how' and 'why' of actions, restructuring and analysing, and developing personal meaning by the application of what is learned.
