We recognise the importance of play; it is the child's way of learning and developing life skills. Play provides the opportunity for children to observe the environment first hand, be creative, develop and extend language skills, interact with others, make decisions and solve problems, develop body and spatial awareness, express feelings in a socially acceptable manner and develop a positive self-concept. Spontaneous play, either alone or with other children, is a natural way for young children to learn to interact with one another and to understand their environment. Our programmes are based on play and every item of play that is introduced into the classroom has an underlying objective, be it development of pre-language skills, cognitive skills, social skills, etc.
Through our programme, we aim to foster self-confidence,
inner discipline and encourage
the development of appropriate language, social,
emotional, creative, cognitive and motor skills,
without destroying any of your child's inner
spontaneity, curiosity and creativity.
The Preschool is part of an International School
where the children will be immersed in an
environment where they will have exposure to
many different cultural and ethnic groups. Through
activities such as listening to stories, music, drama,
cooking, crafts, assembly items, they will learn to
appreciate that people from various groups are
similar in some ways but different in others from
themselves and that cultures are different; one is not necessarily better than another, just different, thereby encouraging respect of others.
Our programme is International, holistic, enquiry driven and Reggio Emilia inspired. This fits well into the International Baccalaureate programme that the Primary school follows. The result is a focused integrated early childhood curriculum, Australian by ethos, yet fully engaging the School's International status.
