Welcome to the Senior School of the Australian International School Singapore.

When moving through the Senior School, one can quickly sense the feeling of ownership by all members of the school community. As growing young adults, senior students are encouraged to be proud of their individuality and identity and valued for their ideas and creativity. Teachers are encouraged to initiate and try new ideas and the whole community shares a feeling of connectedness, support and a unified vision in a growing learning organisation.

'Expect excellence and encouragement’ is one of the key drivers for work and behavior in the Senior School. It is a double edged approach which provides the basis for all that we do. Excellence in and out of the class room, work ethic, appearance, effort, and results are all expected without question. Equally, all members of the Senior School community can expect encouragement in all aspects of their development and work. Students and teachers work collaboratively together to gain the best outcomes for all those involved. The Senior School is not seen as a separate entity to the other sub schools, rather, it is an integral part in the school community and students and teachers alike constantly strive to enhance the sense of connectedness between all of the sub schools. A strong student leadership body plays an integral part in this process as well as provides opportunities for students to gain the skills and experience in leadership positions within the school.

Our highly trained and dedicated teachers provide exciting and stimulating programs that cater for the needs of all students. The Senior School recognises the unique problems and challenges that teenagers face in our multicultural and global environment. The Personal Growth and Development programs form the basis for students to work through the issues surrounding adolescence as well as providing a supportive environment that nurtures individuality and identity.

The Senior School provides the curriculum and high standards offered by the New South Wales Board of Studies and works towards the School Certificate in Year 10 and the Higher School Certificate in Year 12. Our results in these courses place AISS among the best schools in the state.

AISS is also an authorised International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) School. The MYP draws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children from Years 6 to 10, and senior students in Year 10 are required to complete their MYP Certificate through the production of their major research project undertaken and commenced in Year 9.

Opportunities for sport, extra-curricular activities and community and service are as varied and unique as the individuals in the school. From rugby on the oval to golf on Singapore’s ranges, from visiting Cambodia to build houses to trekking the great walks in New Zealand, Hong Kong and Vietnam, the opportunities abound for senior students to take up old and new challenges. As an international and multicultural school, a lot of effort is put into recognising each of its different nationalities The whole community is encouraged to participate in the national identity activities throughout the year.
