After completing a Diploma in Teaching in 1978 and a Bachelor degree in Mathematics in 1979, Buino began teaching in a small rural city in New Zealand. Buino completed a post graduate Diploma in Education in 1988 and a Masters in Educational Administration in 1998. These studies covered human resources, organisational review, educational leadership, technology in education and gifted children.
Buino's professional background of 28 years is with public and private schools in New Zealand including positions as Faculty Head, Director of Curriculum and Director of Internationalisation from 1996 - 2001. Prior to arriving in Singapore in 2001 with his wife and two youngest sons, his most recent position was as the Acting Principal – Curriculum at Hutt International Boys School in Wellington, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of curriculum, international policies and programs.
Buino
came to Singapore through the Singapore Ministry of Education and worked at Catholic High School in Bishan until taking up the position as Faculty Head of Mathematics at AISS in 2004. All four of of Buino's sons have completed their schooling and are studying and working in New Zealand.
