
Andre was appointed as the Head of School at AIS in January 2018. Prior to this he had roles as School Principal (November 2014 to January 2018) and Head of Secondary School (2012 to 2014). He brings 25 years’ education experience to the School, teaching in independent educational institutions in Australia and Asia.
Andre began his teaching career at Christian Brothers Agricultural School Tardun, a small rural boarding school in Western Australia. He was appointed as the school’s Sportsmaster and taught Years 8 – 10 Science. After two years Andre was promoted to the position of Deputy Principal. Upon returning to Perth Andre gained a position as a teacher of Science and Senior Physics at Aquinas College, an independent boy’s boarding school. While at Aquinas he was appointed to the position as Head of Science and Head of Bryan House. After six years at Aquinas Andre took the opportunity to work at a new school in China, Dulwich College Shanghai. He was appointed as one of the inaugural staff members to the position of Deputy Head of Senior School. In 2010 Andre returned to Australia to commence the position of Deputy Head of Senior School at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane, before moving to Singapore to begin his career at AIS.
Andre lives in Singapore with his wife Jodie and two young children, Jaxon and Remi who both attend AIS.

Dr Edward Groughan commenced as Principal of AIS in July 2017. He is no stranger to the world of international education, having been a Principal at four well-regarded schools across Australia and Asia (Pulteney Grammar School and Pedare Christian College in South Australia; Matthew Flinders Anglican College in Queensland and Dulwich College in Shanghai).
Eddie’s teaching career began at the Sydney Grammar School where he taught Science and Physical Education from K-12. He has also been a Deputy Headmaster at Aquinas College, and a Head of Sport at the Hale School in Perth, Western Australia.
Eddie believes that learning is a means to self-fulfilment. As an insight to the belief, Eddie was a late starter to study beyond school, gaining a Diploma of Physical Education at the age of thirty before progressing to a Doctorate over the subsequent fourteen years. Beyond schools and formal education, Eddie has been a Hawaiian Ironman, has taken part in a number of endurance events and was a first-grade rugby player for the Gordon club in Sydney. He remains keen on his fitness and guitar. Eddie is married to Krystie with four children.

PJ was appointed as the Managing Director at AIS in January 2019 where he is responsible for the overall Operations function of the school. PJ returns to AIS where he was initially a teacher in the Secondary School in 2005 and 2006 prior to embarking on a corporate career in various regional senior leadership roles in Asia. PJ brings experience to AIS as both an educator and a senior corporate leader based in Singapore since 2003.
PJ has contributed to the Australian, New Zealand, and wider Singapore community through his long-term presidency of the Australian and New Zealand Association (ANZA) since 2008. This is a volunteer elected position responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to the Association. He has a wife, Jo who also works at AIS in the Admissions department and they have a son, Ashleigh.

Rachael started her career at Education Queensland and taught in schools on the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and Bundaberg. She then moved into the Private Sector and taught predominately at Sunshine Coast Grammar and Matthew Flinders Anglican College; two elite private schools on the Sunshine Coast. Throughout her career she has held leadership positions such as Year Level Coordinator and Head of Year.
Rachael and her family moved from the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland, to Singapore in 2013. After having taught in private schools in Australia for nearly 20 years the timing was right to relocate to Singapore. Rachael and her husband Stuart have a son in Secondary School at AIS and believe that the opportunities and experiences that he has been given here in Singapore have been amazing and life changing. Rachael and her family love living a healthy lifestyle, traveling and making friends all over the world.

Ann’s quest in life has always been to help children to be successful learners. Passion is what has driven her career Ann has been a classroom teacher, Reading Recovery teacher and Special Education teacher as well as supporting children through Expressive Therapies counselling Early intervention is Ann's specific area of expertise. She has a wealth of experience in ensuring that students get off to a good start with their literacy and numeracy skills
Ann has previously held the position of Director of Support Services at Woodleigh School, Junior Campus Minimbah on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. She devised highly successful early intervention programs which focussed on phonological awareness and oral language skills, as well as providing effective numeracy intervention. Having seen the impact that these programs had on students’ learning, she subsequently developed her own resources which are currently being used by Prep teachers in a number of classrooms in Australia.
Having spent most of her teaching career at private schools in Australia, Ann is relishing the experience of being part of the dynamic team here at AIS. On the weekends, she enjoys doing yoga and tai chi as well as exploring the local landmarks, immersing herself in the unique cultural experiences of Singapore. Health and fitness are integral to Ann's lifestyle.

Adam joins us from the British School, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where he was the Head of Lower Primary. Adam has over 25 years experience in teaching and leadership roles in a range of countries and settings. Before moving to Brazil he was the founding Head of Early Years at the International School at Parkcity (ISP), a start up school in Kuala Lumpur. ISP was his second start up school having been a founding teacher and Deputy Head of Kindergarten at Dulwich College Shanghai.
In his spare time Adam enjoys cooking and has developed an unhealthy addiction to T.V chefs. He enjoys most sports and still plays rugby and cricket when he can, although somewhat slower than in previous years. Adam and his family enjoy traveling and look forward to re-visiting some of their favourite places in SE Asia and also discovering some new ones. Adam’s wife Amanda and two children Daisy and Alex join him in Singapore, Alex and Daisy will be attending AIS.

Brad joined us in 2018 in the Commerce Department. Prior to that he held the position of Deputy Principal at Whitefriars College in Victoria, Australia. His career journey has included several leadership roles including Year Level Coordinator, Head of Commerce, Head of House, Head of Senior School, Deputy Principal and Acting Principal. Brad will be Acting Deputy Head of Secondary in 2019.
Brad is joined in Singapore by his wife Amanda and two children Maddyn and Harry who both attend AIS. They love Singapore and the school community. Leonor's first teaching role, in 2004, was in Taunton (England) teaching all academic abilities from Yr 7 to Yr 11. In 2007 she moved to New Zealand and taught Mathematics from Yr 9 to Yr 13. She became Head of Department in 2011, before taking up further senior leadership roles in 2015. Leonor moved to AIS Singapore in 2017 to take up the role of Head of Department for Mathematics. Leonor believes every student has the capacity to be successful to a high level in mathematics if they are provided with the right support, encouragement and academic paths. A teacher's job is to help students see that potential and excel in their chosen field.
Originally from Cardiff in Wales, Leonor met her husband, a New Zealander, while traveling through Australia in 2000. They lived in the UK for 6 years before moving to the Kapiti Coast in New Zealand in 2007 and have two children Eva (12) and Olly (10). They are all enjoying the challenges and experiences of living in Singapore.

Steven started his career at The Ashcombe School in the UK. He worked there for six years, three of those as Head of Design & Technology. From there he moved to the Overseas Family School in Singapore, where he worked for two years as a Design & Technology teacher, before moving to AIS in July 2010. Steven started at AIS as a Technology teacher and in January of 2012 was promoted to the role of Head of Technology Department.
In his spare time Steven loves to travel, eat good food, spend time with his family and support his beloved football team, Crystal Palace.
