Extending Learning Beyond the Classroom

Published by Jessica Anne Tay

Our Outdoor Education Program is centred around the school’s holistic approach to learning which aims to develop the 'whole student' by nurturing their individual talents, both in and outside the classroom.

This philosophy extends into all parts of learning not just what goes on at Camp. From Early Years through to Secondary School there are many ways the teaching staff are looking for opportunities to extend learning well beyond classroom and into external environments.

Our Early Years children took their learning into the great outdoors with a Teddy Bears picnic in Chuan Park. They were also joined by parents who came along and helped with the activities.

Similarly, the Year 4 students extended their learning experience to the ArtScience Museum. The Year 4 students have been exploring Self Expression as their Unit of Enquiry and were able to build on their work on with a visit to the Museum. The students enjoyed the day, exploring and discussing different ways people self-express through the arts.
