Early Learning Village Celebration Of Learning
The Early Years held their Celebration of Learning. This event was an opportunity for children to demonstrate and celebrate their learning journey in an authentic manner with their parents. The teachers of the EY have renamed the 'Exhibition of Learning' to 'Celebration of Learning' to reinforce the concept of learning as a journey, rather than an exhibition of a final product.
The purpose of ‘Celebration of Learning’ is to give parents a glimpse into the learning journey taken by the children and an opportunity for us all to come together as a community. Parents were able to engage in activities that allowed our students to share their skills and knowledge that they have developed throughout the year. The activities were linked directly to the current unit of inquiry, “How we express ourselves”.
The 3 year olds have been exploring the central idea, 'Artists explore and use a variety of materials to create', whilst the 4 year olds have been inquiring into how, 'Creatively using tools and materials helps people to express their ideas and feelings’. Whilst the youngest learners in the Village have been following their own and collective interests in self-expression, thriving in the process of exploring materials, experimenting with them, and creating. Respecting children’s 100 Languages and their emerging skills as well as knowledge, the focus has been on providing valuable experiences for children to appreciate the process of art.
