In celebration of Singapore's 50th birthday and Singapore's 50 years of diplomatic relations with Australia, the Australian International School is proud to support SG50Oz and the special barbecue events that took place on Sunday 28 June.
50 Aussie barbecues involving 10,000 beef and lamb steaks were set up across 22 heartland locations in Singapore.
Over 1,000 people turned up at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, where a team of AIS volunteers helped to grill and serve the food, while approximately 300 people joined the event at Kampong Park, Serangoon, where two other AIS teams were volunteering.
The event was aimed at indulging in Australians' and Singaporeans' shared love of food.
The barbecues were part of the Australian High Commission's 50 Bridges program - an arts and community engagement program dedicated to celebrating Singapore's Golden Jubilee.
