Award-winning Australian author Alice Pung visited with our Year 11 & 12 English students yesterday to share her story about growing up as an ‘other’ in Australia and the state of multiculturalism in Australia and Singapore. She also spoke about the ripple effects of history on a first-generation immigrant family.
Her work has been published internationally and featured in high school and university curricula around Australia. Alice was shortlisted as The Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Australian Novelist in 2015 for her young adult novel, Laurinda. She is in Singapore as part of the Words Go Round, the outreach program of the Singapore Writers Festival for schools and the community organised by the National Arts Council.
