Year 5 Students Hosted The Australian High Commissioner
The Year 5 students hosted the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, Bruce Gosper as the guest speaker at their Year 5 Exhibition Workshops.
The Primary Years Program Exhibition plays a special role in the learning journey of all Year 5 students at AIS. This year the exhibition inquiry is part of the Who We Are transdisciplinary theme, with the the central idea: Building and maintaining positive relationships contributes to people’s quality of life. To begin the inquiry, the students have started to explore ideas related to building and maintaining relationships with friends, families, communities and cultures.
The exhibition is a culminating experience of a student’s journey through the PYP where they work collaboratively in small groups to investigate an area of interest. As a celebration of the learning process, the Year 5 students will share their learning with the AIS community during a number of sessions from Wednesday 29 November – Friday 1 December.
Along with Mr Gosper's visit we also had a day of workshops presented by teachers and students from AIS as well as guest speakers such as Deborah Gillies from Riding for the Disabled; Debbie Talbot, President of AISPA and Sally Forrest, Director of Soul Kids. The workshops were a great way for the students to find out more about different ideas and concepts as well as make connections with the central idea.
