Our Drama Department uses the unique art forms of Drama and Theatre to inspire students to develop their creative and performance skills whilst gaining an in-depth appreciation of their historical and cultural context. They learn hands-on how to manipulate movement and voice to create engaging characters, narratives and dramatic meaning, whilst also learning to recognise the contribution of actors, directors, playwrights, designers and technicians.

The program places strong emphasis on creativity, collaboration and risk taking. Its inclusive, practical and challenging nature creates a dynamic and inspiring learning environment and equips students with interactive and communication skills that will enrich every aspect of their personal and public world.

Students are encouraged to explore Drama as part of their Units of Inquiry in the Primary School. It is a compulsory subject within of the Secondary School curriculum from Years 6 to 8, after which students can choose to take it as part of the IGCSE and then on through to the HSC and the IB DP. Students experience scripted work to their own creations, monologues to group presentations, Shakespeare and physical theatre.

Our passionate team of teachers provide innovative opportunities for our students and strive to instil a genuine understanding and appreciation of the power and possibility of dramatic expression.

In addition to the Recent Drama Productions curriculum program, the department runs a very active CCA program – the Secondary School Drama CCA in Theatre Technology and the Primary Drama CCA – delivered over the course of the year. Theatrical performances take place several times a year in which they can explore their interests in acting, singing, dancing, playing in the orchestra, or working behind the scenes in management and technical roles.
