CEO Of Enlighten Education Leads Empowerment Workshop For Students And Parents At AIS
Dannielle Miller, CEO of Enlighten Education, joined us at AIS last week to lead an empowerment seminar for Secondary School girls.
The discussion session, dubbed “The Butterfly Effect”, explored issues pertinent to teenage girls today, such as self-esteem, consumerism, body image and the importance of finding positive role models. The workshop was designed to support our students in overcoming these challenges to grow into healthy, mature, independent and confident individuals.
This is the sixth year that Dannielle has worked with AIS and the popular workshop forms a key component of the Secondary School’s Personal Growth & Development Program (PGD). Positive psychology underpins all aspects of PGD and enables age-specific issues to be covered in depth.
Using a vertical approach whereby AIS students of different year levels and ages were grouped together, Dannielle encouraged the girls to open up, think about themselves and the world around them. She then offered her unique and invaluable insights into what makes teenage girls tick, and how they can navigate everything life throws in their way.
“I highly value the long-term relationship Enlighten has developed with AIS,” Dannielle said. “What I think works so beautifully is the way in which it has now become a part of the school culture. So many girls stay in contact with me after the events, some for many years later. I love that they feel Enlighten is yet another resource they can access and our team become more positive female role models they can aspire to be like.
AIS students gave high praise for the event and reached out to Danielle with emails, Instagram messages, and Facebook shout-outs. “The feedback I receive from your girls always blows me away. This year was no exception. The girls’ comments in their evaluations never fail to make me feel enormously proud and hopeful - what a wonderful generation of young women we have!”
The guest lecturer also hosted a supplementary seminar for AIS parents on Wednesday night entitled “Wake Up Sleeping Beauty”, in which she focused on strategic ways for parents to help their daughters overcome such problems.
Parents also thoroughly enjoyed Dannielle’s informative and engaging workshop, with one mother stating how much she learned from the event, saying that her biggest takeaway from the session was realizing that mothers are their daughters’ greatest role models. Many other parents made similar comments, saying that they found it an inspiring session that will lead them to work with their daughters on developing healthy and happy lifestyles.
