Three AIS Students Receive Top of the World IGCSE Results

Published by Claire Ettinger

We are excited to share that this week we have received news that two of our current Year 11 students and one of our former students have achieved “Top in the World” Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for the IGCSE examinations that they sat at AIS in November last year; Jo-Lie Ang for Mathematics, Callina Liang for Drama and Natalie Lim for Business Studies and Food and Nutrition.

The teachers who supported these young women in their studies are as follows: Jared Taylor in Mathematics, Martha Bentley in Drama, Alan Small in Business Studies, Despina Joannidis in Food and Nutrition and Martyn Fernandes, IGCSE Coordinator. These passionate and committed educators nurture and support all the students in their care and provided Jo-Lie, Callina and Natalie with the perfect environment to really soar.

Jo-Lie, Callina and Natalie are obviously outstanding students who have engaged fully with their studies at AIS. However, it is important to note that each of these young ladies have also made considerable contributions to the School’s sporting, creative and performing arts and community service programs. We share this information about their non-academic commitments as it demonstrates a belief which is integral to our philosophy at AIS; that experiencing a holistic education and engaging fully with school life can, and does, enhance academic success.

Congratulations to these three outstanding students! Please take inspiration from their achievements – both academic and non-academic. ‘Top in the World’ might not be in the reach of us all, but achieving our personal best most certainly is. Even if we do not reach our target, at least we have taken a chance. At AIS, perseverance, dedication and ambition will always be celebrated.
