Cocurricular activities (CCAs) are an important part of the international school education at the Australian International School. Our students are encouraged to participate in the many varied opportunities that surround them both inside and outside the classroom. Through a program of sporting, social and cultural activities, the intellectual, creative and personal talents of each individual are stimulated and nurtured.
The CCA program starts in Preparatory (Prep) as a lunchtime only program and continues from Year 3 to Year 12 as a lunchtime and after school program. All students in Year 1 through to Year 12 are encouraged to participate in at least one CCA per Semester.
The CCA activities on offer at AIS allow students to develop their creative, musical and sporting capacities within a group of students with similar interests. The common bonds created through participation in these groups, help form the basis of a rich school culture and a community that celebrates diversity and excellence. We encourage all of our students to reap the benefits of cocurricular activities in school.
The School offers opportunities for students to be involved in a wide range of activities such as but not limited to:
- Science and Coding
- Arts and Crafts
- Chess and Chinese cultural games
- Music (through the choir, music ensembles and bands)
- Duke of Edinburgh International Award
- Theatre and Performing Arts
- Dance and Drama
Participation sports are included in our CCA program, giving students the opportunity to try out new sports. Sporting activities are diverse, such as but not limited to:
- Table Tennis
Various Community & Service activities make up the third arm of the CCA Program. These include programs which provide service to the School, the local community in Singapore and further afield in SE Asia.
Full details on what activities run in which sub-school and how to sign-up to the Program, are provided during the Admissions Process, and are managed within our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Access to this community portal is password protected, which is provided once a student starts school.
