John-Paul McManus is an experienced international educator who has taught in schools across the United Kingdom, Portugal, Malaysia, and Vietnam. Since moving to Southeast Asia in 2013, he has held a range of leadership roles including Curriculum Lead, Head of Year, Head of Primary, and Digital Instructional Coach. John-Paul joined the Australian International School from a well-regarded international school in Hanoi and now serves as an Assistant Head of Elementary.
Originally from Suffolk, England, John-Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Finance from Keele University, a CELTA from Cambridge University, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Brunel University, and a Master of Arts in International Education (Distinction) from the University of Sunderland.
He is passionate about fostering happy, inclusive, and innovative learning environments where students thrive. John-Paul believes that strong partnerships between students, staff, and families are key to unlocking every child’s full potential.
Outside of school, he enjoys travelling, sport, and learning about new cultures and customs. He is proud to be part of the AIS community alongside his wife Holly, also a teacher at AIS, and their two children, Theodore and Emilia.
