Hear From Our Students & Parents

Bastian AIS Student Success

“Throughout my time at AIS, I was fortunate to have supportive teachers who encouraged my academic growth. I loved being involved in the school’s music programs which including joining the soul band, performing at ICE, and connecting with peers who shared my passion. At the same time, the MUN program, led by then-Head Girl and Head Boy, Amelia and Dylan, offered an amazing, student-driven space to develop leadership and organizational skills.” – Bastien, 2022 Graduate, 45/45 points in IB

Luana AIS Singapore Graduate 45/45 points in IB

“Two years ago, I left my high school in Brazil and entered the IB at AIS without knowing what to expect. It was challenging—new country, new language—but I worked hard to maintain my academic standards. Along the way, I met incredible people like Mr. Semaan, Miss Hlawatsch, and Miss Torres, whose support and kindness made the journey easier. I’m deeply grateful for everyone who shaped these past two years, which taught me more about myself and the world than I could have imagined.” – Luana, 2022 Graduate, 45/45 points in IB

Chan Family AIS Singapore

“AIS offers the Australian curriculum in Years 6–8, followed by IGCSE in Years 9–10, and a choice between IBDP or HSC in Year 11. We hope our daughter will pursue the IBDP. We appreciate how AIS fosters courage, compassion, and critical thinking—qualities we deeply value.” – Gordon and Salina, AIS Parents

AIS Curriculum Frequently Asked Questions

What curriculum does Australian International School in Singapore follow?

AIS Singapore is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) from Early Years through Elementary, Cambridge IGCSE preparation in lower secondary, and a choice of three senior school pathways: the IB Diploma Programme, the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC), or IB Courses+. Our curriculum combines global best practices with Australian educational standards, delivered by experienced teachers in small class sizes averaging 25 students.

How is the IB different from a normal curriculum?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) emphasises inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and international mindedness rather than rote memorisation. Unlike national curricula that focus on a single country’s standards, the IB framework is recognised by universities in 140+ countries. At AIS, the IB Primary Years Programme develops the whole child through transdisciplinary units of inquiry, while the IB Diploma in Years 11-12 requires students to complete the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and community service – components that universities value highly in applications.

Why do universities prefer IB students?

Universities report that IB Diploma graduates arrive with stronger research skills, critical thinking ability, and time management than peers from many national systems. The Extended Essay provides genuine research experience, and Theory of Knowledge develops analytical reasoning. At AIS, 100% of graduates secure university placements, with 70% scoring above the world average IB Diploma score and 30% scoring 38+ points (vs 15% globally). AIS graduates gain places at leading universities including University of Melbourne, Cambridge, Stanford, and NUS.

What is WASC accreditation and why does it matter?

WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) is a prestigious American accreditation body. AIS Singapore holds WASC accreditation, demonstrating that our programmes meet rigorous international educational standards. For families, this means our qualifications are recognised by universities worldwide, and our school undergoes regular external review to maintain high standards.
