CPE

In alignment with the Private Education Act 2009, a Committee for Private Education (CPE) has been established in Singapore to regulate the private education sector. All Private Education Institutions (PEIs) are required to comply with the regulations under the new Act in order to operate. Through the CPE, schools are invited to apply for EduTrust certification. EduTrust is a voluntary certification scheme that helps to distinguish higher quality educational institutions in Singapore’s private education industry. Private Education Institutions (PEIs) need to be EduTrust certified before being able to offer placement for international students who require Student Passes from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). AIS is registered as a Private Education Institution by the Committee for Private Education. CPE Registration Number 199204405H, registration period 6 July 2023 to 5 July 2027. AIS has also fulfilled the requirements under the EduTrust terms and conditions. Certificate number EDU-2-2037.

Fee Protection Scheme insurance – Protection of Course Fees:

Course fees paid by students are protected in the form of fee protection schemes and fee collection caps. If a PEI is unable to continue operating, the protection scheme protects the unconsumed course fees paid by students while the fee protection caps limits the amount of course fee that the PEI had collected at any one time.

EduTrust

The EduTrust Certification Scheme is a voluntary scheme administered by the CPE for PEIs in Singapore. It replaces the CaseTrust for Education scheme administered by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE).

While the EduTrust Certification Scheme is voluntary, it is one of the prerequisites which PEIs that enrol international students must meet to qualify for the issue of Student Passes, as stipulated by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The scheme provides a means for better PEIs to differentiate themselves as having achieved higher standards in key areas of management and provision of educational services.

Student Contracts

AIS is required to execute a Contract with every student prior to being enrolled in the school. As most of our students are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian is required to execute the Contract on behalf of the student.

The AIS-Student Contract is an important legal agreement between AIS and you, the parent or guardian. Your child cannot start at AIS until you return a duly-executed Contract and Advisory Note (Form 12) to the school.

You should sign this Contract only if you fully understand and are satisfied with all of its terms and conditions. If you have any doubts about the contents of the Contract, you should seek advice and clarification before signing. Detailed sections within the Student Contract include course information and fees, refund policy, fee protection scheme, medical insurance scheme and additional information relating to the governing law and dispute resolution.

Pre-course Counselling

AIS is required to provide prospective students and parents with accurate and relevant information about the programmes offered, and the expectations and requirements associated with the programme.

Should there be any doubts, kindly refer to the Pre-Course Counselling Checklist for further information.

Fee Protection

In compliance with the new regulations under the Private Education Act 2009, all students’ tuition / course fees must be insured under the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS). All AIS students are now covered by way of insurance protection as stipulated by the Committee for Private Education. The Fee Protection Scheme serves to protect the course fees that are paid to Private Education Institutes in Singapore. Fees are considered protected only once they are paid to AIS. AIS then activates the insurance policy with the appointed insurance provider. The provider will then issue a certificate to the family indicating the amount covered and the period of coverage. AIS has appointed LONPAC Insurance Bhd to be the FPS provider for our students. For more information on the Fee Protection Scheme and to check you are protected, please visit CPE’s website www.cpe.gov.sg.  Your child’s NRIC/ FIN number is required to check you are protected under the Fee Protection Scheme.

Medical Insurance

The Australian International School Pte Ltd has a medical insurance scheme in place for all students. You are encouraged to seek advice on whether more comprehensive insurance cover is needed or wanted. AIS-appointed medical insurance broker AEGIS Insurance Services Pte Ltd and NTUC Income Insurance Co-operative Limited.
